| Likes: | Brilliant package; clean diesel has OK 140 hp but blistering 236lbs-feet of torque, making it very quick in traffic. Slick 6-speed, positive electro-mechanical steering, excellent ABS brakes and well-modulated, firm ride, intuitive dash/climate controls you only have to look at once. Excellent fit and finish in and out, heated seats, MP3/CD/Sirius radio, huge pass-through trunk, complete safety package, adjustable headlights. Mid-30 mpg in the city, 50 possible on highway (with 900-mile range). |
| Gripes: | None. |
| Verdict: | No wonder Europeans think hybrids are a joke. This is simple, fast, handsome and inexpensive. I hated to give it back. Still, perhaps we can get the 74 mpg, 3-cylinder Polo diesel in the US next? |
